FileWave Announces New Mac OS X Version of Flagship
Product, FileWave 1.7
New Directory Integration features further add to FileWave's value
St. Gallen, Switzerland, September 21, 2004 - FileWave, the leading
provider of Mac OS X system management software, today announced
significant updates to its flagship software suite FileWave X 1.7. The new
version allows businesses of all sizes to distribute Mac OS X software
easily and rapidly across their distributed networks.
A system administrator needs to define a model software configuration only
once, at a centralized location, and can move on to other duties while the
configuration is quickly deployed to all designated client computers.
FileWave's unique network and server-based software management tools,
including software configuration and monitoring, are totally transparent to
the end user.
Today, with FileWave X 1.7, directory services integration, using the LDAP
protocol, is now possible. "With our new support for LDAP based directory
services, system administrators now have the ability to integrate FileWave
with their LDAP based directory servers," said Ben Forsyth at FileWave. "In
those cases where a customer doesn't use an LDAP based directory server,
clients can be imported from a standard text file. This new, and often
requested, directory services integration, allows for the speedy creation
of clients on the FileWave XServer. This release really signals the first
step in our efforts to provide greater support of open standards and
industry tools."
The software management tool FileWave X is made up of three modules:
FileWave XServer, XAdmin, and XClient. FileWave X 1.7 offers an unsurpassed
ease of use for IT managers and guarantees an extremely high speed of
deployment when distributing software throughout a network. FileWave
XServer centrally stores all data relevant to end users, while FileWave
XClient is installed on the end-user system - thus allowing the
administrator to distribute new software and updates from a centralized
location at any time.
All enhanced modules supplied by FileWave have been certified for Apple's
XServe hardware and also support Apple's AirPort technology for mobile work.
FileWave(USA), Inc. is currently offering FileWave X 1.7 free of-charge to
qualified academic customers that sign up for a two-year support contract.
