FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Extensis Ships New Suitcase Server and Suitcase 10.2 Client

Powerful font management products deliver additional auto-activation support
for Mac OS X and improved font management for workgroups.

Portland, Ore. - December 18, 2002 - Extensis today announced the release of
a powerful new Suitcase Server and an update to the Suitcase client that
previews, organizes and activates fonts. The new enhancements to the world's
best selling font management tools provide users with increased
functionality such as additional auto-activation support in Mac OS X as well
as a brand new version of Suitcase Server.

The Suitcase client (version 10.2) is a free upgrade for registered Suitcase
10 users and both Suitcase 10.2 and Suitcase Server products are available
now through the Extensis website at http://www.extensis.com/suitcase.

"The release of these two new 'updates' to the Suitcase product line are a
clear demonstration of Extensis' commitment to provide our users with the
ultimate set of font management tools," said Craig Keudell, C.E.O. for
Extensis. "Our Suitcase Server has been dramatically updated based on user
feedback in order to provide a solution to the problems surrounding font
management for workgroups of all sizes."

Suitcase 10.2
Suitcase 10.2 is a free upgrade for registered Suitcase 10 users. New
features included in this upgrade include additional system-wide
auto-activation support in Mac OS X as well as AppleScript support in Mac OS
X.

The auto-activation functionality allows users to simply open any document
in a supported application and if the fonts needed for the document are not
already active or available, Suitcase will activate the fonts for the user
automatically. Supported applications in Mac OS X include:

=B7 Adobe GoLive 6
=B7 AppleWorks 6
=B7 BBEdit 6
=B7 CorelDraw Suite
=B7 FileMaker Pro 5 & 6
=B7 Final Cut Pro 3
=B7 iMovie 2
=B7 Microsoft Entourage v.X
=B7 Microsoft Excel v.X
=B7 Microsoft PowerPoint v.X
=B7 Microsoft Word v.X
=B7 Macromedia Freehand 10
=B7 Macromedia Fireworks MX
=B7 TextEdit

Additionally, Suitcase provides three auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe
InDesign 2.0, Adobe Illustrator 10 and QuarkXPress 5 that utilize Apple's
FontSync technology and provide additional functionality.

Suitcase 10.2 users also have the advantage of utilizing added AppleScript
support in Mac OS X. This feature allows users to automate Suitcase
functionality for seamless integration into automated workflows.

Suitcase Server
The new Suitcase Server is more scalable and flexible than ever before. The
Server runs on Mac OS X Server as well as Windows NT, 2000 and XP Servers.
Currently users connect to Suitcase Server from a Macintosh running Suitcase
10.2 over TCP/IP. An updated Windows client will be available early in 2003
that will allow for cross-platform use and administration.

In addition, Suitcase Server adds the following new features:
=B7 Support for Users & Groups - Create individual users and assign them
to a specific group or groups. Administrators have the ability to control
access permissions for each user and what fonts they have access to.
=B7 Font License Tracking - Suitcase Server helps users manage font
licenses and stay in compliance like no other solution available. Suitcase
Server will keep track of font licenses and alert administrators if the
number of users who have access to a font or fonts exceeds the license for
that font.
=B7 Secure & Centralized Font Database - Suitcase Server keeps font
files in a secure and centralized database. This database is available only
via the new Suitcase Server administration tools so users are assured their
fonts are safe and sound.
=B7 New Administration Tools - Suitcase Server now comes with an all-new
set of tools to help users administer the server. Create users and groups,
manage font licenses and designate access privileges for fonts and sets.
=B7 Cross-Platform Solution - Suitcase Server runs on both Mac OS X and
Microsoft Windows server platforms, so no matter what a user's preferred
server platform is, Suitcase Server is available.
=B7 Cross-Platform Clients - Because Suitcase Server supports both
Macintosh and Windows font formats, including OpenType & PostScript fonts,
Suitcase Server is the ideal solution for workgroups that have a
cross-platform workflow. Users of Suitcase for Macintosh or Suitcase for
Windows can both connect to the new Suitcase Server. (Windows clients will
be available early in 2003).
=B7 Remote Administration - Suitcase Server utilizes industry standard
TCP/IP protocol in order to allow quick and easy remote administration.
Administer the server from either the Macintosh or Windows Suitcase client.
(Windows clients will be available early in 2003).
=B7 Continuous Updating - Workgroup members will always be able to keep
up with any changes made on the server with the new Continuous Updating
feature. Changes made by an administrator to font sets appear almost
instantly to the users who have access to those fonts.
=B7 Fonts Are Always Available - Fonts from the Suitcase Server are
always available to workgroup members so there's no need to worry about
workflow disruptions in the event of network downtime or for remote users
who may not be connected to the server at all times.
=B7 Ease of Use - Even though Suitcase Server provides an incredible
amount of control for workgroup font management, it is extremely easy to set
up and use. The administration tools are just as powerful and intuitive as
the features in the award-winning Suitcase client.

Linotype, one of the largest font libraries in the world, understands the
particular font management challenges of designers and typographers,
especially related to font licensing compliance issues.

"As Linotype offers more than 5,500 fonts in its continuously enhanced
library, we are pleased to recommend the exceptional functionality of
Extensis Suitcase 10.2 client and server offerings in combination with our
own Premium Product Linotype GoldEdition 1.7 to the thousands of partner
designers and typographers we work with worldwide," said Otmar Hoefer,
director of product marketing, Linotype. "With new enhancements such as
auto-activation and font licensing capabilities, we are excited to see
Extensis offer such a robust feature set to meet the exacting font
management needs of both individual and workgroup users."
