FLOATING WINDOWS: DEVONNOTE 1.8 (AND CALCSERVICE, HOTSERVICE)

Coeur d'Alene (Idaho, USA), 24th of November, 2005 -- DEVONtechnologies,
LLC updates its intelligent notebook application DEVONnote to version 1.8
and releases maintenance updates for the freeware service CalcService and
the free services menu helper HotService.

The most recent update of DEVONnote brings a number of new productivity
features and improvements that make it more productive and easier to use.

A new option allows to float DEVONnote main windows above all other
windows, making dragging contents from other applications to a note much
easier. Links between notes or from a note to a file or folder can be
created simply by drag-and-drop, and whole groups can be dragged to the
Finder (requires Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger). Items can now also be sorted by
comment, and the contextual menus of text views provide a convenient "See
Selected Text" command that lists other notes in the database related to a
selected text passage.

Also, document packages, e.g. Pages, Keynote or OmniOutliner files, are now
correctly imported as a whole, and double-clicking opens them in the
default application for their type. The overall accuracy of See Also and
Classify has been improved as well, the application is further optimized
for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, faster and more stable.

Besides DEVONnote, the freeware service menu add-ons CalcService and
HotService have been updated as well. CalcService 3.2 bypasses a bug in
Mail 2.0 that disables most services within Mail and fixes a bug in the
evaluation of exponential terms. CalcService evaluates calculations within
any Cocoa application, e.g. a text field in a dialog window, or a text
editing window such as in TextEdit, Mail, or DEVONnote. This way, it
effectively makes the Calculator application or widget superfluous.

HotService 2.2 reduces the Services menu to a bullet to save menu bar real
estate, and initializes the menu faster. HotService moves the services menu
from the application menu up to the top level of the menu bar to make it
much easier accessible.

DEVONnote runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later (some features are only
available on Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger), CalcService and HotService require Mac
OS X 10.3. All three applications are immediately available for downloading
from www.devon-technologies.com. DEVONnote must be purchased in
DEVONtechnologies' online shop for US$ 20 after the evaluation period (150
hours of non-continuous runtime). The update is free for all registered
users.

BACKGROUND: DEVONNOTE

DEVONnote helps taking notes and keeping them organized. It keeps ideas,
documents, important information and even bookmarks in one single,
accessible place, and supports the user with professional but easy-to-use
features for making structure out of chaos. DEVONnote is the most
sophisticated notepad application for Mac OS X, and the only one that uses
AI (artificial intelligence) instead of only relying on the NI (natural
intelligence) of the user.

DEVONnote was made with the typical Mac user in mind:

- creative,
- professional even at home,
- and with a sense for quality software.

Consequently, DEVONnote comes in a clean, easy-to-use interface that gives
the user all the tools she or he needs, in a familiar Mac-like environment.
Even the most complex AI functions are hidden behind buttons, and a simple
click makes DEVONnote dig through all the stored data to find a place for a
recently added note, or show all ideas and concepts that are similar to a
selected note.

Creative people don't just "have thoughts", they need new "input".
Therefore, DEVONnote comes with a complete Safari-based web browser, and
solid but flexible bookmark managing capabilities. The user can browse her
or his favorite websites, and clip the most important information to the
DEVONnote notebook in an instant. And finally, because life is not just
work, DEVONnote shows and organizes web cams, just like notes or web sites.
