Dartware's InterMapper 4.1

Latest Release of Dartware's InterMapper Integrates Custom Programs
Supports Nagios, Big Brother Plugins, Host Resources MIB and Strip Charts

Hanover, NH, August 4, 2003 -- Dartware LLC, a provider of cross-platform
network monitoring products that help customers maximize network uptime,
today announced the latest release of its flagship InterMapper program,
which now allows a network administrator to monitor many new kinds of
network servers and infrastructure using custom plugin programs.

InterMapper provides a real-time view of a network, showing the health of
servers as well as the traffic flows through and between critical wired and
wireless network devices. With its visually powerful yet simple graphical
user interface, InterMapper accurately and easily identifies current and
potential issues that would otherwise compromise the performance of a
network. Unlike more complex enterprise network management systems,
InterMapper offers rapid time-to-value, with its ease of setup, fast
problem diagnosis, and clear, simple user interface.

This release allows customers to create their own programs (written in C,
Perl, or other languages) to test devices, or to use plugins developed for
the open-source Nagios or Big Brother systems. Customers can also create
plugins that can react to failures and provide corrective actions. In
addition, InterMapper can monitor a device's CPU, memory, and disk
utilization using the Host Resources MIB, and can create historical strip
charts of values read from a device.

"InterMapper reflects the diversity of our customer's IT environment. By
supporting plugin programs, we are able to provide a more complete view of
the network's health," said Richard E. Brown, president of Dartware. "Our
customers have unique situations that require tests not available in the
base package. They can now create their own tools to do the tests-while
still keeping InterMapper's ease of use."

New feature highlights include:
Plugin Probes - Enables users to create their own programs (written in C,
Perl, etc.) to test any variety of networked hardware. Also supports
plugins/scripts written for the Nagios and Big Brother packages. Plugin
Notifiers - Customers can create programs to customize the notification
function, performing commands to reboot a hung server, send instant
messages, etc.
Host Resources Management Information Base (MIB) - InterMapper can now
monitor the important variables regarding CPU, disk, and memory utilization
of computers and workstations that support the Host Resources MIB to track
how busy their critical servers are, or how much disk space is left. Strip
Charts - Gives visibility on historical network performance data. Layout
Tools - All the tools for laying out maps that were available in the
Traditional Macintosh version of InterMapper are extended to all platforms.
New Platforms -- Now runs on Solaris SPARC and x86 as well as Linux (Red
Hat, Mandrake, Debian), FreeBSD, Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 and Mac
Classic/MacOS X.

"Dartware's InterMapper has been invaluable in helping me keep my network
up and running," said Jeff Mercer, SysAdmin at Business Telecom, Inc. "The
new release enables me to use Nagios plugins with my InterMapper server,
thus showing me resource metrics as well as simple up/downtime. That helps
me detect failure patterns ahead of time. This way, I can not only know
what network elements are down, but work to prevent them from going down in
the first place."

Pricing and Availability

InterMapper is priced by the number of devices being monitored. A license
to monitor unlimited devices costs $2,395; 200-, 75-, and 25-device
licenses cost $1,795, $1,245, and $495 respectively.

The companion InterMapper Remote allows customers to operate InterMapper
from a remote location. It is sold singly, and in five, ten, and
twenty-packs for $245, $995, $1,895, and $3,695, respectively.

The prices quoted above include a 12-month Support Subscription that
entitles the customer to all versions released during the support
subscription. Current InterMapper customers whose support subscriptions are
in force as of this date may upgrade to at no cost.
