Network Security Bootcamp, featuring instructor Keith Murphy. The Network
Security Bootcamp is a comprehensive, hands-on introduction to tools and
techniques for maintaining data integrity in a networked environment.
In five days, instructor Keith Murphy will train the student to:
Choose the right encryption algorithm for the job
Perform port scans with nmap and Netcat
Create and implement a routing policy
Set up and use ssh
Sniff packets with Ethereal
Build firewalls using Linux systems
Create Virtual Private Networks
Harden Unix systems
Monitor and log network activity from a single location
Configure and deploy proxy servers
Scan email for spam and viruses
Configure secure web servers with Apache
Protect database servers
Control access to LDAP servers
Create and use digital certificates
Secure wireless access points
Create and monitor honeypots
The Network Security Bootcamp deftly navigates students through the
treacherous waters of network security. This course will ensure that
you are well versed in all of the network security fundamentals and
empower you with the most up-to-date skills such as: TCP/IP, password
security, firewalls/VPNs and proxy servers, and being able to
recognize the many ways in which a hacker could penetrate your
network. Although the course is technical and hands-on, each task is
modeled after a set of twelve basic security principles.
Whenever possible, the Network Security Bootcamp uses Open Source tools.

the news for all the wrong reasons, he stayed up late and worked hard to
keep the network-crackers at bay. Keith sold the ISP after two years of
