Bare Bones Software Ships BBEdit 8.5.1

BEDFORD, Mass. - Oct. 12, 2006 - Bare Bones Software today announced the
release and immediate availability of BBEdit 8.5.1. BBEdit 8.5.1 is a
maintenance release that fixes reported issues and adds minor refinements
to this award-winning HTML and text editor for the Macintosh.

The BBEdit 8.5.1 update package is available free of charge to all
registered BBEdit 8.5 customers from the Bare Bones Software web site:

Glossary feature with an intelligent Clippings system. Other momentous
revisions include enhanced Find Differences, FTP/SFTP, Disk Browser, and
Text Factory. BBEdit 8.5 also introduced Code Folding, Auto-save and Check
Spelling As You Type features, as well as Ruby, SQL and YAML language
support.

BBEdit 8.5 is available at a suggested retail price of US$125. Registered
owners of BBEdit 8 can upgrade for US$30; registered owners of BBEdit 7 and
older can upgrade for US$40. Anyone who purchased BBEdit on or after
January 1, 2006 is eligible to receive a free upgrade. Upgrades are
