Bare Bones Software Releases BBEdit 8.1
New Support for Subversion, Enhancements to Text Factory and More

BEDFORD, Mass. - March 28, 2005 - Bare Bones Software today
announced the release and immediate availability of BBEdit(r) 8.1,
the latest version of the award-winning HTML and text editor for the
Macintosh. BBEdit 8.1 now includes support for Subversion, plus
enhancements to its groundbreaking "Text Factory" feature, and
various interface refinements and fixes for reported issues.

The BBEdit 8.1 update is available free of charge to all registered
BBEdit 8 customers. An update package is available for download from
the Bare Bones Software web site:

"BBEdit is a text editing power tool that continually evolves to
meet our customers' needs," said Rich Siegel, founder and CEO of
Bare Bones Software, Inc. "More than a maintenance release, the
BBEdit 8.1 feature update advances our Text Factory technology and
provides integration with the next-generation open source software
configuration management system that numerous customers have
requested."

"Subversion is the leading Open Source next-generation version
control system, used by Open Source projects, such as Apache, Samba,
Zope and Debian, as well as many corporations," said Brian
Behlendorf, CTO of CollabNet, the sponsor behind Subversion's
development. "The Subversion project would not succeed without the
community of developers and ISVs who improve it and incorporate it
into their own products and services. We're very happy to see Bare
Bones Software incorporate support for Subversion in BBEdit, which
gives their customers the ability to collaborate with other team
members in distributed environments."

The new Subversion support provides an interface to the software
configuration management system from directly within BBEdit.
Subversion has been architected from the ground up for distributed,
Internet-based source code management with an emphasis on
WAN-performance and features that specifically address distributed
software development. Additional information about Subversion can be
found at:

The enhancements to the innovative Text Factory technology feature a
new Text Factory submenu and corresponding palette that displays
installed factories for quickly applying a factory to the current
document. Detailed information on additional enhancements and
refinements, including further additions to BBEdit's rich scripting
interface and fixes for reported issues, can be found at:
