Bare Bones Software Posts BBEdit QuickTime Object-Embed Tag Script

BEDFORD, Mass. - May 31, 2006 - Bare Bones Software, developer of
leading-edge power tools for Mac OS X, today posted an AppleScript script
for use with BBEdit to assist Web developers in the migration away from the
EMBED tag for deployment of QuickTime content.

As a result of the recent settlement between Microsoft and Eolas
Technology, the EMBED tag is no longer supported without viewer interaction
in updated versions of Internet Explorer 6, nor will it be in future
versions of Internet Explorer. Any HTML code that uses the EMBED tag must
perforce be modified to ensure future compatibility when delivering
QuickTime content over the web.

"BBEdit makes short work of a wide range of tasks," explained Rich Siegel,
founder and CEO of Bare Bones Software, Inc. "The changes to IE require Web
developers to alter their code, which, if the site is QuickTime-rich, can
be a daunting prospect. We are happy to provide a script which takes
advantage of BBEdit's deep AppleScript support so that webmasters can make
short work of this tedious task."

The BBEdit Embed Tag Script posted today addresses the new browser
requirements for a commonly encountered CSS situation where object tags
contain EMBED tags for QuickTime media that must be replaced, in this case
with JavaScript function calls, to dynamically load and display media
content. The BBEdit-powered AppleScript automates the implementation of the
JavaScript file recommended by Apple at:

As with all AppleScript scripts, this common example can be modified to fit
individual requirements, and adequate back-ups are always recommended. The
BBEdit Embed Tag Script is available free of charge to all registered
BBEdit customers from the Bare Bones Software web site:
