WWDC 2001, SAN JOSE, California-May 21, 2001-Apple today announced the
availability of WebObjects 5, Apple's powerful pure Java application
server for web publishing and enterprise application development.
WebObjects includes innovative tools to develop sophisticated and scalable
web applications that can be deployed on virtually any Java-compatible
server.

"WebObjects 5 is the state-of-the-art solution for developing and deploying
web-based Java applications," said Philip Schiller, Apple's vice president
of Worldwide Product Marketing. "WebObjects has always provided the most
advanced tools and frameworks for building powerful web applications, now
that power enables customers to build the most complete Java server
solutions too."

A proven cross-platform application server, WebObjects speeds time to
market while improving quality through its modular architecture, automated
data access, streamlined page generation and comprehensive suite of
integrated tools. The richest Java development platform available for
database-driven applications, WebObjects utilizes the Java 2 Standard
Edition v1.3 runtime, supports full access to Java 2 APIs and provides easy
interoperability with other Java solutions.

Availability, Pricing & System Requirements
WebObjects 5 is available now through the online Apple Store
(www.apple.com), at Apple's retail stores and through Apple Authorized
Resellers for a suggested retail price $699 (US).

WebObjects applications can be developed using the included suite of tools.
Qualified development platforms are Mac OS X, and Windows 2000
Professional. WebObjects applications are designed to be deployed on the
Java 2 platform, Standard Edition 1.3 runtime environment using JDBC 2.0
for database access. Qualified deployment platforms include Mac OS X Server
