Analyst predicts 2.1 million Macs will be sold in March quarter
The analyst is predicting sales of 2.1 million Macs as compared to a consensus of two million. Munster calls the MacBook Air "underwhelming," but says the "world's thinnest laptop" is helping drive more traffic Apple's way. Meanwhile, he thinks iPhone sales may be weaker than expected based on AT&T figures. In fact, Munster says "at least one million, and perhaps as high as 1.5 million [of the communications devices] may be hacked." Despite this, he's forecasting sales of 2.1 million iPhones for the quarter -- which is a nine percent dip from last quarter.
Munster is expecting even fewer iPods to be sold: "only" 9.5 to 10 million, which is considerably below the market consensus of 11 to 12 million. The analyst blames this on a seasonal decline and "overestimated low-end shuffle demand."
