Aleratec Eliminates Host Computer with USB Copy Cruiser Plus

CHATSWORTH, Calif., July 25, 2005 -- Alera Technologies, developer and
manufacturer of Aleratec Award Winning DVD/CD Optical Recording and
Duplicating Solutions introduces the new USB Copy Cruiser Plus that
provides a direct USB to USB connection eliminating the need to connect USB
devices to a computer to share information between them (USB OTG). The USB
Copy Cruiser Plus has two standard USB 2.0 ports, an 8 in 1 memory card
reader, and features a back lighted, large screen LCD display that shows
device capacities, space available, data transfer progress, and allows you
to select and copy specific data down to the file level for making custom
compilations. Palm sized and powered by 3 standard AAA batteries (6 working
hours) you can use it anywhere. Now you can easily communicate with and
transfer photos and data to and from digital cameras, memory cards, USB
flash drives, MP3 players, and PDAs making it the full featured tool needed
by the growing population of USB flash drive users and digital
photographers of all levels.

"USB flash drives have grown into a billion dollar market. More than 54
million were sold worldwide last year, up from less than 2 million in
2001," according to the research firm Gartner Dataquest. "Sales are
expected to top 100 million in 2006."

"Until now, moving photos from digital cameras and memory cards or
transferring files between USB devices required connecting a camera or USB
flash drive to a computer. While this is not a particularly difficult
process, the USB Copy Cruiser Plus has made it an unnecessary,
time-consuming nuisance. With the USB Copy Cruiser Plus, we believe we have
successfully made life easier for our Prosumer users," stated Perry
Solomon, President and CEO. "From the digital photographer caught with a
full memory card when there are more pictures to be taken, to the growing
numbers of USB flash drive users looking for an easy way to transfer and
exchange information, the benefits of the USB Copy Cruiser Plus span the
broadest range of users."

The USB Copy Cruiser Plus uses PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) developed by
the International Imaging Industry Association to allow the transfer of
images from digital cameras to computers and other peripheral devices
without needing additional device drivers. With the USB Copy Cruiser Plus
you can copy photos directly from your digital camera to your USB flash
drive without removing the photo memory card. Your camera's photo memory
card can be erased and made ready for more pictures anywhere, anytime since
the USB Copy Cruiser Plus is battery powered and shirt pocket portable. It
only weighs 4.3 ounces with the batteries. PTP is supported by most popular
digital cameras including Canon, Fuji, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, and Sony.

The USB Copy Cruiser Plus (Aleratec Part No. 330100, Ingram Micro SKU
G36907) , has a low Estimated Street Price of $79.99 (batteries not
included) making this powerful tool easily affordable for any digital
photographer or anyone that needs an easy and portable way to share data
and multimedia files.

USB Copy Cruiser Plus includes a built-in 8 in 1 memory card reader/writer
that supports CF (Type I and II), SD, SM, MMC, MS, MSPRO, and MD. You can
plug memory cards directly in the USB Copy Cruiser Plus and copy them to
USB devices. This is particularly useful if for some reason you cannot read
a flash memory card directly from a camera. The USB Copy Cruiser Plus can
copy directly from one USB flash drive to another USB flash drive or using
the memory card reader/writer it can copy memory card to memory card or USB
flash drive to memory card and vise versa, or to or from either one to a
USB Hard Drive, so exchanging files, photos and music is quick and easy,
even with your MP3 player or PDA.
