4D, Inc. Releases 4D WebSTAR v5.1 Update

SAN JOSE, Calif., February 27, 2002 -- 4D, Inc., publishers of the 4th
Dimension RAD/RDBMS Environment and 4D WebSTAR Server Suite, today
announced the release of its 4D WebSTAR v5.1 Update, now with integrated
FastCGI, a new 4D WebSTAR Rewrite plug-in for URL management, new Language

4D WebSTAR v5.1 includes an integrated 4D WebSTAR Rewrite plug-in for
extremely fast and flexible proxy, URL redirect and other URL management
features. FastCGI, the high-performance gateway interface, is now included
in 4D WebSTAR v5.1. A robust implementation, FastCGI on 4D WebSTAR V
outpaces both CGIs and Apache mods, giving users the safety of the CGI with
the performance of a built-in module. The new Language Negotiation feature
automatically selects localized files based on user-set browser preferences.

The new Admin Client has been updated for increased performance and
interface improvements. Other notable enhancements include a new WebObjects
adapter, compatibility with PHP 4.1.1, an updated 4D Link Plug-in and
improved Search summaries. Additional performance improvements, bug fixes,
usability improvements, and compatibility improvements are included in the
