More than 1,400 Third-Party Applications Now Available for Mac OS X v10.1

SEYBOLD SF 2001, SAN FRANCISCO, California-September 25, 2001-Continuing
the momentum surrounding Mac=AE OS X, Apple=AE today announced that more tha=
n
1,400 third-party applications are now available for Mac OS X version 10.1.
Native applications available today and introduced at this week's Seybold
San Francisco 2001 take full advantage of the system-wide improvements to
Mac OS X v10.1. This major upgrade to Mac OS X includes dramatically
increased performance, a refined Aqua=AE user interface, and unprecedented
connectivity to popular digital peripherals like DV camcorders, MP3 players
and digital cameras.

Mac OS X users can find more than 1,400 native applications in all
categories that fully leverage the modern architecture and features of Mac
OS X. The most anticipated application for Mac OS X is Microsoft's Office
v.X for Mac, featuring a bold new Aqua user interface. Major Mac OS X
applications available today include Intuit Quicken Deluxe 2002,
Alias|Wavefront's Maya, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.1, Adobe Acrobat
Reader 5.0, Macromedia Freehand 10, Aspyr's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2,
Aladdin's Stuffit Deluxe, Pro Create Painter 7, FileMaker Pro, MYOB's
AccountEdge, World Book Encyclopedia 2002 and a host of products from
Symantec including Norton AntiVirus, Norton Personal Firewall and Norton
Internet Security.

"Mac OS X is inspiring the application developer community with its
innovative technology on every level, a refined Aqua user interface and the
raw power of UNIX underneath the hood," said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice
president of Worldwide Developer Relations. "The new applications
introduced this week and throughout this fall will help complete the
transition to Mac OS X."

"Mac OS X v10.1 is the must-have upgrade for anyone using or considering
Mac OS X and as such, Microsoft is making it the required minimum version
to use for all of our Mac OS X products," said Kevin Browne, general
manager, Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft Corp. "We're proud to be
shipping the final release of Internet Explorer 5.1 for Mac with Mac OS X
v10.1. Designed as a native Mac OS X browser, IE 5.1 is fast, rock-solid
and features great support for Java and Internet standards to provide the
best possible browsing experience. Finally, our eagerly-anticipated release
of Office v.X for Mac will take advantage of Mac OS X v10.1 to enable
stunning graphics, as well as efficient productivity and communication."

"Mac OS X v10.1 is the perfect operating system for Nikon users. Its
blending of high-quality image capabilities, industry standards and
ease-of-use mirrors Nikon's reputation for setting new standards in product
design and performance in photographic equipment," said Deborah Sauer,
general manager, Marketing for Nikon. "Mac OS X v10.1 supports all Nikon
consumer cameras right out of the box, so it's incredibly easy for Nikon
customers to simply plug into and transfer photos to a Mac to edit, store
and email digital photos to friends and family."

"Palm Desktop for Mac OS X takes full advantage of new Mac OS X
technology," said John Cook, senior director of Product Marketing at Palm,
Inc. "Instant Palm Desktop takes on a new twist in Mac OS X - simply click
and hold on an icon in the Dock to get fast access to Palm Desktop data,
find contacts or create new records. We've also redesigned the look and
feel for Mac OS X and improved data compatibility for better
synchronization with Palm handhelds."

"Mac OS X v10.1 provides a reliable and powerful platform for Adobe's
publishing product line and will be the preferred, mission-critical
publishing environment for many of our Network Publishing customers," said
Bryan Lamkin, senior vice president of Web Publishing for Adobe. "Mac OS
X's strong feature set built on open standards fits directly in line with
Adobe's vision of the Network Publishing revolution-publish anything,
anywhere, on any device."

"Canon's support of Mac OS X v10.1 demonstrates the continuing strong
relationship between Canon and Apple," said Yukiaki Hashimoto, vice
president and general manager, Photographic Products Group, Canon U.S.A.,
Inc. "Our digital cameras and digital camcorders complement Apple's Image
Capture Architecture and iMovie, providing consumers with unlimited
opportunities to enjoy the exciting digital imaging experience."
