What do you do?
President. Set strategic direction, and, it being a small company, help with both engineering (mainly design and testing) and marketing.
How long have you been doing what you do?
Here at Open Door, almost 15 years. Then 11 years before that at Apple.
What was your first computer?
Radio Shack TRS-80 model 1.
Are you Mac-only, or a multi-platform person?
Mac-only.
What's the coolest thing about the Mac?
The fact that it's had built-in networking since day one (disclaimer: yes, I did help with that :)
What is the advice you'd give to someone trying to get into this line of work today?
Do it! It's worth the learning curve.
What's the coolest tech thing you've done using OS X?
Our Envision Web-image browser (http://www.opendoor.com/envision). Beyond what it is in its own right, it set the stage for nearly 100 iPhone apps, and counting.
Ever?
Helped get the original Mac out the door.
Where can we see a sample of your work?
http://www.opendoor.com and http://we-envision.com
The next way I'm going to impact IT/OS X/the Mac universe is:
Shipping our security products updated for Snow Leopard and the iPhone
Anything else we should know?
I gave a Macworld keynote on the history of Macintosh networking that's available on-line:
