Ben Wilson
For the last 5 years, Ben Wilson has led the MacFixIt.com web site through new content, new features and new climates in the on-line world. MacFixIt has long been, and still remains one of the pillars of the Mac web. It is the premier site for trouble shooting news, tips and information featuring daily updates, in-depth reports, and user forums discussing all things Mac. As the Chief Editor, Ben is responsible for oversight of the award-winning staff of writers and editors and maintaining the highest quality possible. Containing an amazing amount of history and archived information available to subscribers ($24.95/year), new stories are available to all on the home page for a limited amount of time. For those deep in the trenches of Macintosh troubleshooting (think schools and corporations with hundreds or thousands of Macs), MacFixIt is a blessing, and a must-have.
Currently, Ben produces the "AQuickFix" podcast series (http://www.macfixit.com/quickfix.rss), and ensures that MacFixIt remains on the cutting edge of troubleshooting news for its half a million readers. - jr
Brent Simmons
Brent makes his second appearance on the MacTech 25, and for good reason. Initially, an independent developer running under the auspices of "Ranchero Software", he created NetNewsWire, the premier news-feed reader for OS X and MarsEdit, a blogging tool. NetNewsWire caught on quickly with users, and won an O'Reilly Mac OS X Innovators award early on.
Sensing a symbiotic relationship, NewsGator corporation purchased Ranchero to acquire NetNewsWire -- shoring up their OS X offerings -- and Brent as an employee. Brent sold off MarsEdit to follow MacTech 25 honoree Daniel Jalkut. Brent continues to develop and lead the path for NetNewsWire, and to post to his blog at http://inessential.com. - erm
Chris Breen
Chris Breen has been writing about technology since the latter days of the Reagan Administration for such publications as MacUser, MacWEEK, and Macworld. Now, he is the Senior Editor at Macworld Magazine, and pens the magazine's popular tips and troubleshooting column, Mac 911. You'll also find him speaking in Playlist's iPod Blog; and appearing in video form in Breen's Bungalow, an every-so-often video tutorial found on Macworld's virtual CD. He's also the author of Peachpit Press' best-selling Secrets of the iPod and iTunes, fifth edition and the new The iPod and iTunes Guidebook. - jr
