November 91 - Editor's Notes
Editor's Notes
Don Sawtelle
By the time you receive this issue you will have already received, via first class mailing, the
complete program and registration materials for the Orlando '92 MADA Conference. Please
contact the MADA office at (206) 252-6946 if you haven't yet received this mailing-the
deadline for an early registration discount is fast approaching.
Whence October?
In order to avoid a collision between the FrameWorks schedule and MADA's Orlando '92
conference in February, we've changed the publication schedule, making this the November
issue. With this change, publication next year will occur in January, March, May, July,
September, and November.
DRUMMING UP Authors
We have a great bunch of authors writing for FrameWorks, but we always need more. If you're
interested in writing an opinion piece, software review, MADA meeting notes, technical
feature, or something no one's thought of yet, please send a note on AppleLink to MADA.Editor,
or on America Online to MADAEditor. If you lack email, please call me at (209) 966-3066.
FrameWorks pays authors for published material. The current rate is eight cents per word; a
FrameWorks page runs about 525 words, so that works out to an average of about $42 per
page. Not a living wage, of course, but definitely one good indication that we value your work.
Authors that provide significant code or other associated materials for publication on the
FrameWorks Disk also receive a complimentary one year's subscription to the FrameWorks
Disk.
The author's deadline for the January '92 issue is December 1st.
TRUMPETING FOR EDITORS/
The MADA board has converted the FrameWorks editorship from a volunteer position to a part-
time compensated position. I'm holding this position for an interim period, through production of
the March '92 issue; this will give the board time to conduct a formal selection process to
choose a permanent paid editor.
If you're interested in editing this small but respected developer's publication, and have the
experience or the skills to take on the job, please contact Tony Meadow, the president of
MADA. He can be reached at AppleLink: D0068, or at Bear River Associates: (415) 644-9400.
