Excel Software has announced the Cloud License API [application programming interface] in Safe Activation Service 3 for mobile app developers.
Cloud License can be used by any device or computer with Internet access. It supports any programming environment that can send a URL string and perform conditional logic on the returned response string.
Cloud License consists of a small set of URL commands to activate, validate, release, restore and reset a software license. Safe Activation presents an online vendor login to configure each license, data collected during activation and assign Serial Numbers. Protected applications running on mobile devices communicate with the server to activate and validate the license.
Cloud License supports phone, notepad, notebook or desktop software. It works with any device, OS, human or programming language. It can be used with any affiliate, reseller, app store or distribution model. The user interface and data collected during activation is controlled by the application developer.
Supported license types include Product, Time-Limited, Execution-Limited, Date-Limited, Floating and Subscription Licenses. Once activated, a license can be released, restored, reset or suspended. Additional features in the activated application can be remotely enabled. Both human controlled and integrated online purchase, payment and Serial Number distribution are supported.
Cloud License for mobile devices can be used independently or together with QuickLicense desktop application licenses. One serial number can manage licenses across diverse environments.
Cloud License requires no software purchase, download or installation by the developer or application users. Developers pay no licensing fees based on number of products or sales of Cloud License protected software.
The Internet based system requires the developer to register a vendor account on Safe Activation Service 3, starting at US$45/month. A Cloud license includes a PDF User Guide with reference, tutorial and sample application chapters. It also includes a working source code example that compiles for Mac, Windows and Linux.
Excel Software also released Android License SDK 1.1, which now supports two protection models, the QuickLicense with LicenseManager APK approach that works without Internet access on the Android device and the new Cloud License approach. To simplify Cloud License implementation, version 1.1 adds the sample CloudApp Java source code and enhanced User Guide. An Android License SDK [software development kit] is $395.
Cloud License extends the Excel Software protection and licensing solutions for Mac, Windows, Linux and Android software to mobile devices. These solutions include QuickLicense, QuickLicense Server, LicenseSupport, WebActivation, AirLicense, OfficeProtect, DocProtect, AppProtect, LicenseCard, Android License SDK, QLRT Xcode, Safe Activation Service and protection plugins for FileMaker, Xojo and Photoshop.
When used with other features in Safe Activation, the entire online purchase, payment processing, delivery, support and activation process can be automated with built-in or external shopping cart software or services. For more info go to www.excelsoftware.com .
