Bare Bones Software (http://www.barebones.com) has released Yojimbo 3.0, an upgrade to the information organizer for Mac OS X. It supports synchronizing items to the new Yojimbo for iPad and includes direct scanning support for TWAIN-compatible devices.

The new version also includes fixes to reported issues and additional refinements. Yojimbo is an Universal Binary application that requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later, and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 ("Snow Leopard"). Version 2.2.1 is a free update for registered 2.0x users.

For new users Yojimbo is available at a suggested retail price of US$39 for an individual license; $69 for a family-pack license for up to five people in a single household; or $29 for an educational license. All licenses provide for synchronization of multiple computers.

All registered Yojimbo 2 customers are eligible to receive a free upgrade to version 3.0. Any registered customer with Yojimbo 1.0 through 1.5.2 may purchase an upgrade to Yojimbo 3 for $20, including individual, family and academic licenses.

Yojimbo for iPad -- available for $9.99 at the Apple App Store -- stores all types of items contained by Yojimbo 3, including notes, passwords, bookmarks, serial numbers, PDFs, images
and web archives. The app also handles encrypted data from Yojimbo 3 using the AES-256 algorithm standard.

The app can sync information from Yojimbo 3 on the desktop when both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. After the initial set-up, Yojimbo for iPad will automatically sync from the desktop while it remains open, or when the app is launched.
