Epson America (http://www.epson.com) has announced the Epson Stylus Pro 7890 (24-inch) and 9890 (44-inch) for photographers and proofing professionals. The company has also announced the Stylus Pro 4900 17-inch printer.
THe Stylus Pro 7890 and 9890 printers combine eight-color Epson UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta ink technology with auto-sharing Matte and Photo Black inks, and Epson's MicroPiezo TFP print head to produce high quality prints at speeds about twice as fast as their predecessors (the Epson Stylus Pro 7880 and 9880), says Reed Hecht, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America.
The Epson Stylus Pro 7890 and 9890 offer the same leading technology found in the Epson Stylus Pro 900-series, including ePlaten automatic media loading, spindle-free roll media loading, a roll media tracking system, front control panel with 2.5-inch color LCD, rotary cutter, fabric catch bin, and robust printer stand, he adds. The printers also feature Epson's latest ink-repelling coating and auto nozzle verification technologies to virtually eliminate clogged nozzles, and use nine individual high-capacity ink cartridges up to 700 ml. In addition, these new models are capable of handling virtually any media type, in roll or cut-sheet. Both models are available with an optional SpectroProofer spectrophotometer.
The Epson Stylus Pro 7890 and 9890 will be available in December through Epson Authorized Professional Imaging Reseller. They'll have a manufacturer's suggested retail price of US$2,995 and $4,995 respectively.
Leveraging Epson's latest engineering technology featured in the award-winning Epson Stylus Pro 7900 and 9900, the Epson Stylus Pro 4900 combines the precision of Epson's MicroPiezo TFP print head with the performance of Epson UltraChrome HDR ink to deliver high quality prints, fast print speeds, and an extremely wide color gamut, according to Larry Kaufman, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America.
Utilizing 10 colors, including orange and green, Epson UltraChrome HDR ink technology produces the widest color gamut ever from an Epson Stylus Pro printer and is certified by Pantone to cover 98% of the Pantone Formula Guide solid color palette. Combined with Epson's AccuPhoto HDR screening technology, this ink raises the level of print quality, says Kaufman.
The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 includes automatic switching between roll and cut-sheet media, allowing users to have both the front paper cassette and roll feeder loaded with different media types and automatically switch between them with a driver selection. In addition, the high-capacity paper cassette holds up to 200 sheets of 8.5 x 11 inch to 17 x 24 inch sized sheets.
The Epson Stylus Pro 4900 is available in two configurations -- the base model for photography and a Graphic Design Edition including an EFI® eXpress RIP. They'll be available in December for $2,495 and $2,995, respectively.
