Kool Tools: Fusion 5
Extensis' Suitcase Fusion provides instant access to the font tools designers need in all the places they need them. And the newest version (5) delivers features such as font auto-activation plug-ins for Adobe Creative Cloud and QuickComp for fast font mock-ups.
To wit: Suitcase Fusion 5, compatible with Mac OS X and Windows, delivers new auto-activation plug-ins for the Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and InCopy. Integrated font panels allow designers to preview and activate any font from within Creative Cloud and Creative Suite apps, without switching between applications. Designers can use Suitcase Fusion 5 on more than one machine, as they can with their Creative Cloud subscriptions.
Selecting typefaces that work well together is often the first thing designers do, yet can often be a laborious process of switching between design applications and multiple documents.
With the new QuickComp feature, designers can quickly experiment and pair typefaces directly within Suitcase Fusion 5. Designers can preview fonts side-by-side in print or web templates, or by using comparison sheets. Samples can be saved to PDF font proofs for sharing.
Suitcase Fusion 5 connects to both WebINK and Google Web Font libraries. Designers can preview and prototype with the ever-expanding collection of over 6,500 web fonts available from these services. The collection includes more than 1,000 new fonts from WebINK, such as Adelle (TypeTogether), Myriad Pro (Adobe), and Museo Sans (exljbris).
Whether designing for print or the web, Suitcase Fusion 5 is a top notch command center for fonts.
Suitcase Fusion 5 is available through distribution with Ingram Micro (US) and Synnex (Canada), through North American resellers and retailers (CDW), and direct from the Extensis website (www.extensis.com).
